Material aspects for responsibility
The material aspects and performance indicators for corporate responsibility were defined in collaboration with a corporate sustainability consulting company, by applying a materiality analysis. The aspects were selected in dialogue with the ownership steering group at the Ministry of Employment and the Economy, and they are based on the results of both a corporate image survey and a strategic customer satisfaction survey, and on the company’s own views. The materiality of the aspects is monitored via the company’s business operations and through stakeholder feedback.
Finnish Industry Investment's material aspects for responsibility
Our stakeholders represent investor community, civil society, the company's owner and personnel. The corporate image and strategic customer satisfaction survey maps out stakeholders' expectations for the company's operations as well the strengths and development needs of the company.
Finnish Industry Investment's stakeholder arenas
- Business arena
The business arena's expectations for corporate responsibility are mainly related to responsible investment. This arena also has expectations for internal procedures that ensure high quality and confidentiality as well as legal and regulatory compliance. We aim to be a trustworthy and competent partner and also an enabler of growth.
- Civil society arena
The civil society arena’s expectations are important because we are a publicly-owned company that manages the assets of the government and other investors. Expectations largely concern the company’s economic impact and responsible investment. The indirect impacts of our operations can be seen in the advances made by Finland’s business community and innovation system as well as in job creation.
- Owner arena
Owners’ expectations focus mainly on the economic impact and financial responsibility of our operations. Achieving results, in terms of both financial performance and economic impact, has a strong influence on the cooperation that we enjoy with our owners, and consequently on the resources available. Our objectives are to develop Finland’s venture capital and private equity market and to increase ownership value.
- Internal arena
Internal stakeholders’ expectations focus mainly on our economic impact and finances as well as on responsible operation and a solid human resources policy. The internal arena’s expectations are measured with a job satisfaction survey that is conducted at regular intervals. We want to make Finnish Industry Investment a creative and enjoyable work environment in which we achieve excellent results.
Corporate image survey
We have conducted a corporate image survey at three-year intervals since 2006. In 2014 the survey was expanded into a bi-annual corporate image and customer satisfaction survey. The next survey will be conducted in autumn 2016.
